What is Pilates?

The Pilates method works well for a wide range of people. Athletes and dancers love it, as do seniors, women rebounding from pregnancy, and people in various stages of physical rehabilitation. Increase muscular strength, endurance, cardiovascular and flexibility. Core strength is the foundation of Pilates exercise. The core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. Strong core muscles work in tandem with the more superficial muscles of the trunk to support the spine and movement.

What is a Pilates Reformer?

The reformer machine is an apparatus belonging to the Pilates method. This machine offers one of the most balanced workouts due to the wide range of exercises that are incorporated in a reformer class. The reformer machine is very efficient at targeting the eccentric (long) and concentric (short) contractions of your muscles (a key component to restoring range of motion in your joints) leading to a balanced, synchronized, and harmonious workout.

The style of workout you experience from the reformer machine will provide you with the sensation that your whole body has been thoroughly worked in a much deeper way than most workouts.

Reformer Pilates is complementary to a multitude of activities ranging from recreational sports, HIIT, heavy lifting, and yoga.

What is a Pilates Jump Class?

During a typical Pilates session, your body performs a series of smooth, fluid and articulate movements… although when you are in the mood for a more energetic Pilates session a reformer jumpboard workout maybe what you are in need of.

The jump-board is a wide stable add-on platform to the reformer that facilitates jumping, running and skipping/hopping exercises. A Pilates jump class provides a perfect setting for engaging in ballet-like and sport-specific movements while engaging in that meticulous Pilates form. You might even burn a few extra calories too!

Reformer Pilates Workshop

Hosted on the last Saturday of every month at 10:30am limited spots available. Open to 5 current unlimited Pilates members under the condition that you bring a friend! Details will be posted 2 weeks prior to every workshop.
